Thanks for visiting my primitive rug hooking site. Over the past decade, my interest in rug hooking has grown from making a simple mat with a sheep (which was great fun!) to an all consuming interest in everything about rug hooking. I’ve been honored to be included in both the 2006 and the 2008 Early American Life Directory of the Best Traditional Craftsmen. My work is also featured on traditionalfolkart.com, a showcase for a new definition of American folk art, with brilliant examples of carved figures, miniature quilts, felted and hooked rugs, fraktur, furniture and many other fine crafts. On Valentine's Day of this year, the NY Times ran an article on my work in the House & Home section.
CURRENT EVENTS: I'm currently getting ready for the 9th Annual Blueberry Festival on July 27th in Austerlitz, NY. I'll be bringing new rugs that feature my current obsession with horse images as well as new rabbit rugs, barns, cats -- all farm and country oriented. For more information and driving directions, visit their site at www.oldausterlitz.org. Hope to see you there!
ABOUT ME: I live with my family in an 1832 farmhouse in the Catskill Mountains. I believe in the joy and contentment that making things by hand brings. My site is dedicated to offering you my original hooked rugs, as well as hand dyed wool and supplies for all kinds of rug making - primitive and penny rugs, as well as other primitive textile crafts.
SHOP: My shop in Delhi is conveniently located in the center of our small town. I'm open by appointment. My rugs take up most of the room in my shop, but I also carry basic rug making supplies. Please call to make an appointment that's convenient for you.
WEB SITES/MAGAZINES: My work is featured on TFA -- traditionalfolkart.com. Please try to visit TFA -- you'll see an abundance of exquisite folk art. An article about my rug hooking work was included in the Spring 2007 issue of Kaatskill Life magazine.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks again for visiting.
